Heh. Well, the second one of these adapters which I built, I inserted all--*ALL*--the wires in the ATX plug in the mirror image of the way that they should go. I think I used the ATX plug diagram as if I was looking down on the wire end instead of the connector end. Sigh. Now, if I was any good at extracting the pins from those molex housings I could just undo it and start over, but I never have been any good at getting those pins to come back out once they're in there.

I expect you are already aware that there is a tool (Molex Pin Extractor) that makes the job of removing the pins nearly painless.
I have used them many years ago when I was in the US Navy. I have on occasion inserted the pin in the wrong place, but
with the tool quickly removed it and put it back in the right place.
However, at a cost of about 25 bucks for each size tool.. you would need to utilize it a lot to make it worth the price.
Also one needs different sizes depending on the different size pins.
