Thanks for the info, Will. I'll probably download Sizzle tonight.
When installing the OSX updates, will I need to use Xpostfacto to do the install? I may get the 10.2.8 update from Apple, or I may just go for 10.3 instead.

thanks
Mike

I know on previous occasions people have asked about having to go through stages to update their OS. Having to go from 8.1 to 8.5 to 8.6 in order to get to 9. I know that you can go straight to 9 with the proper disk.

I have 10.2 on my S900. I need to get to 10.2.8 to run some of the software that I need. The updates on the apple site say to get 10.2.8 in need to be running 10.2.6. To get 10.2.6 I need to be running >> .5...

Is there an easier way to get there? To download all these files on my slow dial-up would take days.

Find the Apple "Support" page. Under search type in "10.2.8" It takes a bit of looking but you will find "Mac OS 10.2.8 Combo update" It is large 97 MB. This file will update any version of 10.2 to 10.2.8 and is what you need. Perhasp you could get a friend with broadband at home or work to download and burn to CD .
Also, iDVD says it requires a factory installed SuperDrive in order to run. Is there a workaround to make my external DVD burner work with iDVD?

Thanks
Mike
iDVD requires a G4 CPU or it will not run. Yes there are hacks that will let you run it with some/many external DVD burners. Pioneer is the easiest as it is really an Apple Superdrive when installed in the machine others but not all will also work. I don't have the hack right in front of me. I would need to look for it and or perhaps someone else has a copy. iDVD is over rated IMHO. It only lets you burn 2hrs to a disk providing you have version 4 . Version 3 is only good for 60 min per disk. Did I mention it also costs $49.00 or more. The free app "Sizzle" lets you put as much as 6 hours on a disk and it also works with G3 CPU's. later Will S
