Well, I figured out part of the problem. The Acard that I just bought, an
ATA133 card, shows up on my computer as an Ultratek 66. It recognizes 238
gigs of the 250 gig hard drive. (which it shouldn't do if it was really a
66, right? It should only recognize 137 gigs of it?) But It won't let me
install Panther unless I do the 8 gig partition thing. Does this have
something to do with the PCI bridge and the fact that I have the card in a
lower slot? Anyway, just for grins, I partitioned the drive. Installation
starts, then stops, and i get a long list of messages about the things that
are needed and can't be found.
Well, I've got Jag going on another drive and it's been stable for a
while. I don't really need Panther. I just thought if I could install it
without the 8 gig limitation, I'd be better off.

Mike
