The next version of Lightning should be compatible with SeaMonkey 2.0.
Indeed, I have a nightly build installed now, and have a tab in
Mail/News open with my calendar. You can wait for the release, or try
one of the nightlies.

Just tried to install the nightly. received message extension Lightning
was prevented from install because it incompatible with SM 2
(use Mac)
Should be compatible up to 2.01 pre. I suspect you tried to install the
wrong version. Note that it is dependent on platform, here is a direct
link to the mac version.
