On the news.mozilla.org news server, I subscribed to mozilla.test but not to mozilla.test.multimedia. I cross-posted a message to both. My message appeared in mozilla.test. Then, I subscribed to mozilla.test.multimedia. My message was there, too. NO, you do not have to subscribe to a newsgroup to post to it. HOWEVER, some news servers reject any messages that are cross-posted. This might apply only to messages from subscribers to such a server -- mnessages originating with that server -- and not to messages originating elsewhere and being propagated between servers. -- David E.
