Thanks for the reply, Mike. I'd really much prefer to use Netsape
because most people say it is so much better than MSIE, especially
when installed on a low resourse machine. Micro$oft products as
you know are designed to eat a lot of memory and slow down your
machine so as to force you to upgrade. Their monopoly is into deep
cahoots with the computer manufacturers and vendors. Bill Gates
has always sought to make all the money there is to had in every
facet of the computer industry. What really gets had are the
consumers. This particular system that I'm trying to set up with
Netscape is to be used by an organization. The folks would be
highly critical of me if were to use more Gatesware than necessary.
Of course it isn't necessary to use any Gatesware at all just to do
the internet, but some people unfortunately do not know how to deal
with any operating system other than Window$. They aren't teaching
DOS in the schools and training institutes anymore. Oftentimes
when you ask a teacher a question about DOS, he will just laugh at
you and try to make you feel ashamed just for being interested in
the subject. Only the smartest and most intelligent students will
dare to investigate the forbidden.
Does anyone know which is the lowest version of Netscape that
includes a dialer? And may it be downloaded from some place for
free?
I've never been stumped by a configuration problem before, and I've
always been able to figure them out, usually very easily. It is
of course possible that I'm entering something incorrectly in my
setup, but I've reviewed and re-checked it many times already.
Could you or someone else refer me to a website were I might get
some more information on Trumpet Winsock? I find the documentation
that comes with the program to be somewhat sparse. I'd like to
see a lot of examples of working configurations.
All the best,
Sam Heywood
