A strawman is a re-interpretation of a position so as to make it easy to destroy. Or at least it is in my experience. Just as often I see flames based on one poster trying to define terms that comport with his position.
Heimo was pretty specific about the circumstances under discussion: a single user, single pc with only a 56k link to the outside world. No other networking. Linux is grand for setting up LANs and WANs, but that wasnt his situation. Linux is much more powerful than dos. He seems to me to be wondering what that power can do for him, and so far I've not seen much that either of us cares about. There aint no free lunch; with power, comes complexity. aka hassle.
