Dear Friends--Many thanks to Gay for forwarding this e-mail and to
Sandy and Bill for all of the work they did to construct the
site. It is indeed very revealing. And chilling. Especially
chilling is the introductory sentence:
"Gas drilling is coming soon to the Finger Lakes Region. Rumors
abound, but one thing is sure: in the next few years residents will
see a dramatic transformation of the local area to a more industrial
landscape."
[If you have "styles" for your e-mail and this is turned on the last
phrase is in italics for my emphasis.]
Gee.... This is the beautiful Finger Lakes. I went for a ride
through our gorgeous hills this afternoon. It is deeply saddening
that we may soon have an "industrial landscape" instead of lush green
hills in our future. And a toxic future at best. I think we should
resist this transition to the extent possible. Thanks for listening. Tom
P.S.: And so much for the tourist industry that supports so many
people in the Finger Lakes and the Southern Tier!!
