Well, imho, I think SVN is useful even if you are the only committer for a
project. You could have a couple of pc at office, one with windows and the
other one with Linux and getting an svn up is very easy to update your
changes quickly and try your cross-platform code. Further, you could have
also the chance to develope and extending your software at home and, why
not, getting another svn up and a further svn ci to have these changes at
home and, the day after, at office ;-). This is just my experience :-)

The main commands are not so difficult to manage so ...
