In general, I completely agree. But I think there are some special
circumstances here: Primarily, there's only one manager and committer...
though I do think the rest of us could help Lukas more if good systems and
communications were in place.   And, the fact that quite a few open projects
are currently migrating to git... might indicate that, once some rough spots
are ironed out, git might be a better solution in a short time.   (Some
recent articles make it sound fantastic, even if it still has quite a
learning curve... [and I have no brain cells left!] things like 1/30 the
storage space needed... being far faster... the distributed benefits...)

Oh... ;-)  I think there are a LOT of testers...  But only one committer...
No?   And it might be just as easy in a single-direction distribution
(-only) situation to post fixes to an unstable branch in the forum.


I am not at all disagreeing with the benefits of SVN access. I just thought
that the special circumstances and the current migration of so many projects
to git might warrant taking a little more time to consider the options.
