It may be worth it knowing anyway if the codes DO correspond or if its
totally an accident if they do.

Does any of the devoplers have an idea if a straight ascii code
translation would do?
And just in case, some of the printer manualsused to have tables with
them and as the location on the keyboard doesnt really matter, its the
ascii code which should do it, maybe not a bad idea to have a look at
an old dot matrix printer manual..   I had one but I mislaid the
manual after moving house...
