I wonder what the Good Net Keeping Seal of Approval (GNKSA)
recommendations say about this. (I don't have time to check right now,
but am curious.) My feeling is that users who do what you suggest are
the least likely to need the feature, and those who are new to The Bat!
and its foibles are the most likely to get tripped up a few times before
they get around to taking that measure. And only those who are
conscientious enough to wade through the thickets of this news group are
going to know about it anyway; most people won't think of this idea on
their own.
