You're sure there isn't a duplicate entry for this person, right?
If you just created an entry, there probably is no duplicate.  So that
begs the question, how did you create the entry?  Did you manually
type in the address?  Is it possible that you made a typo in either
the AB entry or the new message?

If not, then I'm at a loss.

That's always possible.  But since this seems to be limited to your
situation, perhaps there is some little configuration thing we're
missing.  It could be something so obvious that we're all missing it,
or it could be really obscure.  I hope we find out soon.
