This is exactly right. The trick is to create all the attachments with
the cursor out of the message body, *before* doing any editing of the
message body whatsoever.

This is also the way address book templates are applied. I create a new
message, edit the To: field and upon placing the cursor in the message
body, the address book template for the recipient is applied. If I had
*manually* edited the message body in any way, the template wouldn't
have been applied. I say *manually* edit because you can change the
message body template output by changing the recipient for which another
template is associated. Upon moving the cursor to the message body,
again, the template is "automagically" changed from that of the old
recipient template to reflect the address book template of the new
recipient. :-).
