Hello Gary,

Yes, I think I've finally realized that. I'm not sure it's the port
25 thing or not since I can configure the software to use another
port. But AOL say's it will not relay messages or allow use of any
other software to send messages through it. I wouldn't use AOL, but
the company I'm consulting with uses it for remote connections. I
have two questions then:

1: The Bat! therefore seems to be incorrectly using TSL protocol when
trying to send mail through my ATT account. Since the same settings
allow Outlook Express to do it. I can receive mail fine with The Bat!
too. So - not waiting for a fix for this. Does anyone know of a free
web-based e-mail service that will work - one that uses a simple
protocol to send e-mail through. Netzero will not work either - I
can't even get Outlook express to work with it. Thanks.

2. Does anybody have alternative ideas for another ISP that would
provide connections throughout the US for travelling people that is
not bound up like AOL is, and allows users to use their own e-mail
clients (for me, The Bat!) while traveling. I'm thinking about People
PC (I'm thinking of setting up a spare computer with this for my
parents anyway), maybe. I'm not sure about MSN (too big brother).
