The latter is the case - I'm quite happy with K9, http://keir.net/k9.html. It's very easy to use, and after a short while you get used to starting it before you start The Bat!. It's a good feeling to know that all your spam goes right into the trash folder, even though you should take a glimpse into it before deleting the messages, in case there are any false positives. As far as I remember, K9 is also part of the Bat! installation pack, at least with v1.62r, isn't it?
