My CC dialogue window had moved itself to a place on my screen that was less convenient for me. So now I've been able to drag it down off the toolbar. While I was at it, I grabbed the horizontal line between the list section and the details section (with the pie chart etc.) and that way I was able to give the list section a little more space. And even at this unholy hour of the morning I remembered that to make it all stick I needed to close the window. I did that, and the CC completely disappeared. Had enough common sense (half a cup of coffee down by now) to trot back to Preferences and look at the CC setting. Sure enough, TB! had dutifully put the choice back to "Automatically." I put it to "Always," and for once Microsoft did not fail me. The changes I had made did stick.
