I thought I had done this as long as the new file was the same size or 
smaller than the old file, but I could be mistaken.
The other option is to extend upon 'the Knoppix way'. Mount it, run 
unionfs against the iso as a backing store, then have a macro to make a 
new ISO image from the unionfs. This is how knoppix works (except for 
the last part)
