For many years Michael Sylvester has delighted in accusing us of being incompetent, Eurocentric, racist, sexist, and lacking academic integrity. Now he has demonstrated that it is he who, in fact, has no academic integrity at all. It shouldn't surprise you that we respond to his return with ridicule or sarcasm--he's earned that and more by his behavior toward us over the years.
You know from reading my posts that I have many times supported Michael's right to post here--but he has now made it clear that his word is not to be trusted and that he is willing to demonstrate a complete lack of honesty and integrity to make his points--points which often deliberately offend legitimate members of this list. Had he spent those years claiming to be an academic historian and ridiculing you for your approach to teaching (as well as for your knowledge of history), I suspect you would have a very different view of him than you display here.
Once he was exposed as a fraud he should have quietly left the list. That he returned and made it known that he was now posting from a non-academic address only demonstrates his contempt for us and for the list itself. This is not a place to debate obscure and contrived political principles involved in the teaching of psychology with lay people, it is a list dedicated to the discussion of the teaching of psychology and intended for use by instructors and others who are legitimately involved in academic psychology or college teaching. Michael has always been out of line here and now that he is known to be an academic fraud, he clearly represents an individual who should not be a part of this forum. Frankly, while I don't believe in censorship, I firmly believe in this case that Bill should seriously consider banning him from this list permanently. Academic fraud of any nature is unwelcome here--the kind of fraud perpetrated by Michael simply demonstrates a contempt for the principles this list was founded under.
To paraphrase your signature, make it a good day (but, please, do so by getting rid of Michael Sylvester).
