I don't know about getting sun from inside, by a window, but I do know there is some concern about getting too much vita D.  I'm NOT suggesting anyone NOT take a supplement, but be careful to not overdo it.  I remember hearing - I think in one of my nutrition classes - about something of concern happening b/c a dairy had put too much vita D in their milk (D helps your body absorb the calcium).
