You should also consider other parts of the Squeezebox line.
You seem to indicate that your master bedroom configuration includes CD
player and turntable... what type of amplifier and speaker setup do you
have there? The Boom (or Radio) are nice bedroom options since they
have integral amplifiers and speakers, as well as being able to serve as
typical "alarm clocks" (similar to clock radio). Don't know your
listening preferences vs. size constraints - having a single box which
eliminates separate Player, Amplifier, CD Player (, Turntable), Speakers
may be very attractive. It depends on your real needs/desires. If you
setup a dedicated file server, and rip your CDs, your use of a CD player
will drop considerably (likely to 0). The Boom provides very nice sound
for a medium or small size room. Also consider the Classic as an
alternative to the Receiver (the Receiver is the player part of the Duet
package). The Classic provides a display, and will work with IR remote
(included), and seems to have more robust wireless networking. The
Classic appears to be in the process of being "phased out" with the
replacement being the Touch - but remember, the Touch is not yet
released - estimate is for December release, which means you won't
likely be able to get your hands on one until early 2010.
