I've updated to 7.6 on the touch AND removed all cover art (inside tags as well as folder.jpgs) from the library. I was able able to finish a scan for the first time! After that, the first track i played skipped, but after that almost everything worked (I was able to play whole albums) this weekend. I cannot browse multi-artist-albums yet, but I think this is for another thread.
