And if the OP wants to keep trying the Touch's internal server, this is
another thread with some good tips.  It's still a crapshoot, but
following this advice does help your odds:

And on the external server option, remember that it could be a NAS or
even a Sheevaplug-type device with an external drive that is connected
directly to the Touch, so the OP doesn't  have to worry about breaching
the network where he works.
