'Where no counsel is, the people fall, but in the multitude of counsellors
there is safety.' Prov 11:14
Counsel is a very important aspect of building one's character but it is also
very destructive to relationships. The human being is naturally defensive and
they will try by all means to defend their position, thus blocking counsel from
coming.
I believe the first step to receiving and gaining from counsel is for the
individual to admit they have a problem, tell someone their problem and seek
advise. But we shld also be carefull who we seek what counsel from as you might
be led astray by the wrong person.
Therefore wise counsel will come from someone whom you have a relationship with
or someone whose background you know eg a business consultant, a doctor or a
lawyer u have not dealt with before but u have been referred to.
Brethren, do not just seek counsel anywhere from anyone.
Where counsel is coming wen u have not sought for it, take time to listern and
understand, think about it then respond becoz u might pick 1 or 2 things that
may help u, rather than being defensive on the basis that u r taking it as
rebuke.
I also believe that it is our duty as christians to counsel each other and not
just seek counsel.
