i had an oppotunity to attend Night of Bliss with Pst Chris over the weekend and he spoke profoundly on this passage of scripture, he defined love to be an endearing desire to see the best and to do the best for others or someone (paraphrased). He then went on to say faith is now, hope is for the future and love is for always.
I also once had bishop TD Jakes saying your motive is very critical, always check your motive, one can do the right thing but for the wrong motive. one can show acts of kindness, acts of love but in all this because they have an alterior motive. He one can be in church and even be very participative in the ministry for years but be motivated by personal desires. The danger with motives is that only you know your motives no one else not even your pastor will know why you do what you do, whether its out of a genuine love for God or its so that you get a personal agenda forwarded.
