I totally agree, the closest relationship we can ever have when you grow up is with a parent...Bcoz of the closeness, there is vulnerability. If the realtionship is good it can really be very exciting and fruitful, but if its bad (coz of neglect, abuse etc) it can be very bad (habouring unforgiveness, resentment, bitterness etc). This is a commandment, regardless of the state of our relationship with our parents, we should obey. I agree that we should not sacrifice our progress in life because of a lack of honour for our parents....
...and this include the unreasonable mother and father -in- law, for those of us who are married.
