The older model doesn't have the problem from what I understand. The older  
model also isn't available any more. If I recall the FSF bought a bunch of  
them because its the only thing that comes very close to being 100% free  
software friendly available. They bought them for parts and things. I believe  
only RMS is using it. There are a few developers out there too hacking on it.

It's not a usable system for the majority of users here.
