judyt: What scripture do you base your belief that only Jesus could fulfil the law of Moses and why are you saying that this argument makes Christ less than He was?  Why would God give the people a Law they couldn't keep? Would you give your child a set of standards he couldn't possibly measure up to?  What kind of love is that?  Even if Old Covenant ppl were blameless so far as the Law was concerned they still had to keep the feasts and the day of atonement came every year with all that blood; a picture of His holiness vs our uncleanness.  No the heresy is in making the claim that Jesus' blood is no different than that of the first Adam which gives him an inheritance in iniquity and makes him less than the spotless lamb slain before the foundation of the world..

John: A careful study of Galatians will answer the "whys" you are asking above.   There was a reason for the Law and Paul tells us what that reason was  --  right there in the Galatian letter.   John

Judyt: The reason for the Law of Moses that I see in the Galatian letter is that it was given as a "schoolmaster to lead people to Christ" which still begs the question as to whether or not it is possible for a mere human to keep it. It was never given for the purpose of salvation - but obedience to God's law was paramount if one expected to walk in God's blessing (Deuteronomy 28,29) and obedience to His Law is the ONLY way to walk in tfellowship with God or in the light as He is in the light. In the book of Hebrews we see that the Levitical Law is an earthly picture of the heavenly tabernacle.  How we get from all that to the present day mindset of some of you that only Jesus was capable of obeying and fulfilling God's Law I don't know. He's the only one who could have gone to the cross because of the eternal and spotless nature of His blood but this has nothing to do with working anything from the inside out in his daily life although he was walking in the fullness of the Spirit where we are given a measure. He left us an example that we should follow in his steps....
