Hardly political as I was the one who ultimately removed it. It was
around the time we were working on cleaning up the old ant build,
which ultimately lead to Maven. The code was old and no one was
supporting it or using it, so we removed Freemarker, Webmacro, and
Jython support from the build, leaving Velocity and JSP I
believe. Nothing political at all, just no one actively supporting it
or using it at the time.
I agree with you Henning, if no one wants to use Freemarker, no reason
to add it. Same for WebMacro, Tea, etc. If there are developers
willing to contribute and support it, +1 to support for other
templating solutions.
