Which is the big difference between U.S. scripted TV and scripted TV
everywhere else--everywhere else, the main goal is get a pay check and
do well enough to come up with other ideas that will get produced--an
international hit like "Doctor Who" is simply gravy.

But I see that the equivalent of 100 episodes for syndication might be
in the minds of the purveyors of reality and game shows, who look at
the international success of "Millionaire," "Survivor," "Idol" and
"Dancing" and get caught in the trap of trying to come up with the
next international sensation instead of entertaining their home
audiences.
