I know that the origin of the argument shouldn't affect its validity, but I find it especially ironic that an article criticizing an acclaimed sitcom appears on cbc.ca. The last (and only) successful sitcom broadcast by the CBC was "King of Kensington", which left the air 29 years ago. They're not exactly experts in the genre.
