The negative ads have bumped up, with new ones from the Romney campaign branching off from his 'not better off' line from the nomination speech. I'm giving the Democrats a few days to get their new negative ads ready.
Maybe it's just where I live (DC area), but the down-ticket races don't seem to be throwing as many ads up this year compared to 2008. The close Senate race in the area gets plenty of action, the not-so-close is only showing ads from the presumably self-financed independent candidate. I've seen no House ads. For after Labor Day, this seems odd. Ryan will still be on the ballot for his House seat, so his question is what Washington job he has next year, not whether he's in or out of elected office. Another reason he may have dived in is that he is term-limited as Budget Committee Chairman, and will either be off to another leadership position or given special dispensation by House leadership to remain the lead House Republican on the budget.
