To get more cards with the same width, you could also use finer thread.
Sixty cards in crochet cotton, I need a double sided loom and the weaving's
2.75inches across.  Using really fine thread though, same sixty cards, the
ribbon was 1 inch wide and fit on my inkle type loom just fine.
