I still have not experienced a single GPU hang since I added the options "i915.i915_enable_rc6=0 i915.i915_enable_fbc=0" to the grub command line. This website mentions problems which might relate to what some people in this forum are experiencing: http://intellinuxgraphics.org/2011Q4.html In particular, I wonder if the "i915.semaphores=1" kernel option can help anybody here, as nobody has suggested it before.
