Yaobang and Lutimba Matovu, thanks a lot for your
contributions. From the outset I would say the truth
about the decline of discussions on ugandanet may lie
in betwixt these two extreme views. One thing that is
certain is that most often we do not factor in the
burn out syndrome that is common when people of like
minds tend most often to talk about the same issues.
On the assertion of the net being infiltrated by the
so called Movement spies I would take that with a
pinch of salt.We are really suffering massive paranoia
if we allowed ourselves to arrogate Mu7 and his
cohorts such omniscience that even on the cyberspace
they can spy on us.Mu7 is failing to run even the
minimum of Uganda's foreign missions, why on earth
would such a government of fundamental change be
interested in spying on Ugandans whose places of
aboard they may never come to know,as if that was
their primary mission.Let's not make heroes out of
these fellas. It is possible the netters just got burnt
out and hence the recycling of discussions and use of
vulgar language that has been alluded to.
On the formation of other discussion fora,I do not
think it had anything to do with politics, but rather
with survival tactics amongst the various ethnic
groups who have their so called ethnic fora. After all
it is better to know where you have come from in order
to know where you are going and not just obliterate
that fact for that is living in the realms of
wishingful thinking .
Thanks.
Kipenji.
