You cannot chmod on a windows share, it's all based on login
credentials.  Who owns the folder on the WHS, and how is the folder
being shared?   To be honest, the best thing to do is format a USB stick
with Linux ext4.   Then use that in your pi for your config/cache and
playlists.    You never mentioned where your music was saved.
