Great, thank you. So maybe there is scope for automating the creation of both the udev rules and the udev script.
I think that little script will fail if there are two sound cards with the same name, or the name of the one you're looking for is 'within' the name of another, e.g. if I'm searching for a card named 'DAC', it'll probably fail if I also have a card named 'Arcam DAC'.
