When I am ready to execute this command:  'sudo ./SQLITE-control.sh make
DAC'  I understand that I am supposed to substitute the name of my dac
for the word 'DAC' in that command?

So, in Squeezelite the name of my dac is 'front:CARD=DAC51892395,DEV=0'.
Is that what I type in in place of 'DAC' in the command??

Also, one slight inconsistency in your instructions...in STEP 1, you
tell the user to create a file called 'SQLITE_control.sh', but the code
shows 'chmod +x SQLITE-control.sh'.   So, in between SQLITE and
control.sh, the create file has the underscore and the code shows a
dash.
