Soooo.... any ideas?

My 8600 does boot with Panther. It seems to run ok, but I do get this message periodically in the logs. What does it mean?

In that case maybe I'm getting that message periodically after a while too and I only noticed because of the circumstances. Probably something to do with minor incompatibilities in the system causing DMA (Direct Memory Access) errors. Dunno - not an expert.

The SCSI card problem went away when I reverted to 10.2.3 so I think it's a different incarnation of the damn SCSI bus - maybe it screwing up the timing and confusing my U2W card.

I got 10.2.3 working fine then updated it to 10.2.8 and lo-and-bheold it Blue Screen of Death'd me! Won't get to the login window now, the verbose console keeps kicking in with some message about being disconnected from or not being able to connect to 'loginwindow'. At that late stage in the boot it *might* be possible to SSH in and see what's up - I'll give it a shot...
