Thanks Maxwell.

I guess mine counts as an old world mac. Do I for sure not have the motherboard scsi? (I guess this sounds like a stupid question).

Thanks.

it will run to hot unless I modify the system somehow?

MESH (Mac Enhanced SCSI Host I believe) is the SCSI bus on old world Macs. As long as you're not using Motherboard SCSI you won't get the error.

Thanks for the info about the source of the error. I hadn't noticed any
performance problems from it. I was curious about the random nature of
it and the sometimes flurry of repeated messages. I guess I can just go
back to ignoring it.

As for the CPU, I have a Sonnet G4/700. It has been installed for about
6 months. As far as I know it has been working flawlessly. In the month
that I have had Panther installed, I have never had it completely
freeze on me other than 2 kernel panics caused while trying to get a
USB device to work (but that's a whole different question). I would
expect an overheated processor to shut down at some point.

I believe Sonnet's Metronome software used to give the CPU temperature,
but the latest version doesn't, because the results were unreliable.
How can I tell if it is running too hot?

thanks, jim

The PPC 7451 & 7455 CPUs don't have temperature sensors which is why you don't get a temp out of them. You can get a thermistor based computer thermometer & monitor the CPU temp if you want. New Egg has them for ~$15.

I get these regularly in 10.3 on my 9600. It only has a G3/300 in it. I
don't use the side door fan tho (noise issue).

I'm pretty sure that having the door off is causing the normal airflow to be interrupted. How many Hard Drives do you have? The two IBM drives in my computer heat my computer up like crazy. I installed two 50mm Fans to keep it cool.
