Yes, the Beige G3 is an Old World Mac. Actually its incorrect for me to imply that only Oldworld Macs have motherboard SCSI since B&W G3s, Yikes G4s & Lombard G3s have a SCSI chips on the motherboard that may or may not be connected (it is in the case of the lombard & absent on others) to maintain compatibility with Applications that (theoretically) needed SCSI manager 4.3 support in the case of the B&W G3 & was then carried over to the Yikes G4. Apple has a TIL entry on it but I forgot where the link I have for it is. Anyway before I ramble on anymore, you should use the ATA bus or any SCSI card you may have installed because they will be a minimum of 3 times faster. Around 16MB/s ATA or 20MB/s or 40MB/s Ultra Wide SCSI (Apple bundled an ATTO SCSI card with some Beige G3 configs) v.s. the 5MB/s Motherboard SCSI.

Thanks Maxwell.

I guess mine counts as an old world mac. Do I for sure not have the
motherboard scsi? (I guess this sounds like a stupid question).

Thanks.
