it's a proof of concept, and soon, very soon it may be dozens of real, big, nasty virii for macs! i've seen exactly the same mechanism used to spread windows virii, in fact i've got several examples saved on my hard drive! it's a real hole, and a real big hole. complacency and arrogance are a sure path to trouble! the fact that apple is advertising and getting good press in computer magazines makes them a bigger target than they were. the main reason for the relative lack of mac virii is that it was a small target, and most kids had pc's to play with and write virii on. well, guess what, macs are becoming more popular and hence a bigger target and more likely to be hit. don't be stupid, it will happen, it has happened before but not on too big a scale, luckily. that luck is about to run out. apple is becoming more and more like microsoft sadly in some ways, including a total lack of thought concerning security and very, very basic mistakes in the design and implementation of the os and the internet programs that come with it. i love macs, but i'm not dumb enough to hide my head in the sand. don't forget, the last big mac virus did major damage to though who caught it, and it spread fairly quickly even though by cd and dvd! email is much, much faster.
