Now I'm starting to get worried.

If I can't "bring it back" without a format a format and reinstall--do you know if it would work to use the same Library folder? That may save me from a bunch of reinstalls right? I assume I can keep the users in--after I back them up.

Is there a simple explanation for what happened? I can still boot off the Jaguar drive, though only if I use XPF which confuses me b/c Jaguar is supported in beige and I used to be able to boot into it b/f I ever had XPF installed. Oh, I know, it must be b/c of my Sonnet card that I need XPF to run Jaguar? For example, just to install Jaguar, I was unable to boot from the install CD w/o XPF. So maybe I made the Jaguar installation "XPF dependent".

You need to format and reinstall. You have hosed your system. Sorry.

I formatted and reinstalled, and the problem hasn't gone away.

I would eye those combo cards with a little caution.
