if they buy a new Mac, with Tig and no OS 9, they have to remember to transfer their OS 9 licence. Their old Mac must then be disposed of sans OS 9 licence, which may be awkward.
If they just buy Tig for their current Mac, but want to sell on an older OS X licence, they have to remember to hang on to the OS 9 bit they're using.
Just the usual licence hassle, for those trying to stay street-legal.
People can, of course, be very cavalier. I picked up a Sawtooth at the weekend cheapish (ebay). The seller tried to "add value" by including pirate copies of Jag, MS Office, Illustrator, PhotoShop, PageMill and Quark. Zero licences, manuals, boxes or original source disks. Because this machine was for a client, I naturally deleted all the included warez and took it back to bare OS 9 - which this particular chassis would have originally shipped with. It's tough trying to stay legit !

Only OS 6, 7 and 7.5.3/5 are free. All the rest of Apple's old OS junk still has to be paid for. I have clients still using OS 9, or still using Apps which need it or Classic (such as earlier versions of Quark Xpress). The print trade is very conservative, in the UK at least. So it's an issue for people who are half-converted to OS X. This might put them off upgrading to Tiger machines.
Why? If they're using OS 9 they already have the copy they're using. They
can bring it with them when they upgrade. If they don't have a copy, what
are they using now?
