And to allay your fears a little Hank, the job of moving your *data* to a new back end can be as easy as dragging and dropping tables. Setting up the new back end might introduce you to some new ideas so it might take a little to get your head around it, but once that's done it might not be hugely difficult.
It's possible, of course, that there will be some little niggling problems that need to be resolved manually, but it's possible that the move can go relatively smoothly and easily.
