That's a very cool trick. It also works as a suffix if the cursor is
at the widest point of the raggedy right edge before dragging
downward and if you do a quick cleanup afterwards to get rid of the
extra spaces:

1. If the top line is the longest line in the area to be selected,
put the cursor at the end of that line. Otherwise, press the space-bar
at the end of the top line until the cursor is at the point of the
end of the longest line.
2. Press Ctrl+Shift and drag the mouse straight downward.
3. Type the suffix.
4. Open the "Search" menu.
5. Choose "Replace..." from the menu.
6. Type this into the "Search for " box: \s+  
7. Type a space into the "Replace with" box.
8. Mark the "Use regular expressions" checkbox.
9. Click the "In Document" button.
