The problem with the method below is that it's a direct formatting that can be easily removed afterwards. Better configure the paragraph style (first look at the Default para style).

How can I make the default language for this document English
(Australian)?

Many thanks, James

Hi James

Select all data (Ctrl-A) Right click, select "Character" then you can
set the language from the combo box in the middle.

You may need to install the dictionary, of course - there will be an ABC
over a tick mark if the dictionary is already installed.

To select all data you would press (Ctrl + E ) ( in OOo.org v3.0) no Ctrl-A (this command is to open a document) then you can follow the steps Russell gave to you.

I don't know if this is version/OS dependent, but Ctrl-A still works in my Linux version of 3.0.1. I did check before my original post. Ctrl-E moves the justification to "Centered"

I appreciate the input on better methods using the new menu entries.

Hi Russell,
I running OO0.org v. 3.0.1 (downloaded from http://download.openoffice.org/ ) on Windows XP, Ctrl + A is used to open a document, I would write in which operative system this command is used to do that. Have a good time Carlos Marinez
