Example of the "automatic" toolbar: Move the cursor into a table, and

If it merely provided mouseable shortcuts for keyboard shortcuts, the
Table toolbar would be useless, IMHO. But the little functions on the
toolbar are in many cases not good equivalents for the supposedly
equivalent functions obtained through the menu. For example, setting
the a table cell background color:
o If done via the menu { Table : Table Properties : Background }, the
background color fills the cell completely - and that background color
is recognized in the Background palette (the new background color
acquires the default/status border).
o If done via the Table toolbar ("Background Color" icon), the
background color fills the cell *only up to the cell contents
boundaries* - and that background color is *not* recognized in the
Background palette used by the menu. [The palette used by the
toolbar's "Background Color" icon never recognizes /any/ color,
whether set via the menu or via the toolbar itself.
IOW, the toolbar provides not a quicker way to invoke a function
available via the menu, but in fact a different function. I find that
worse than useless. It may also be buggy. But IAC it has no place in
my work environment - let alone insisting on intruding into my work
unbidden. How can I keep these intrusive toolbars from popping up?

I *think* that this can be accomplished by dragging the toolbar, next
time it pops up, either up to the top of the OOo screen (where the other
tool bars reside by default) or to the left and it should automatically
"dock" into that area. Once you've finished working on the table and
moved onto plain text, the toolbar should disappear and when you return
to working with tables, it should reappear in the area you dragged it into.
I hope this helps.
