I have been fortunate in that respect. I've never been in a position
where I couldn't "customize" my computer. Over the past twenty years,
I've largely avoided having to use MS Office, even when it was one of
the packages I was supporting. Years ago, I also used Lotus Smart Suite
and before that, Wordstar 2000. At home, I've previously used PC-Write
(on DOS) and Describe (an excellent word processor for OS/2 and Windows)
I currently use OO at work, though on Windows and even converted a
coworker to it. In one company I used to work for, OO was the
"official" office package. I've currently got my manager thinking about
running it, because many people in the company have to generate PDFs.

Can you run StarOffice? I know you'd have to pay for it, but at least
you'd still be supporting OO.
