Where was that icon located? I assume you're using Windows. There should be an OpenOffice folder & icons in your Start menu. Are they there? There may be a "Quick starter" icon at the right end of the task bar. Is that there? Are you referring to an icon on your desktop? Without knowing what icon you're referring to, it's difficult to advise you.
